Thomas Sabo is lighting a fire under its best replica watch business in the UK this year, and is pressing its authorised retail partners to treat timepieces with just as much enthusiasm as they give to jewellery collections.
In a briefing with WatchPro, Nick Callegari, wholesale director for Thomas Sabo UK and Ireland, said the brand is telling retailers to do more with watches, or face losing them.
“We absolutely believe in the watch category for our current partners but potential new watch-only trading partners as well,” Mr Callegari asserts.
Thomas Sabo provides a degree of geographic protection for its official partners in city boroughs and towns, but partners that refuse to do more with watches are being told that the brand will look for other partners that will be offered only watches.
In a visit to the flagship Thomas Sabo store on Molton Street in central London, WatchPro found that, although the majority of the boutique was devoted to jewellery, the men’s replica watches collections were presented in cabinets right by the tills.
Thomas Sabo has brought prices down for its current collection, with watches like the Rebel Spirit (pictured above right) retailing for £180. The 42mm stainless steel watch on a Milanese mesh bracelet houses a Miyota quartz movement. The chrono version (above left) retails for £270.
Ulysse Nardin has added to its impressive stable of chiming quality cheap replica watches with animated jaquemart dials with the launch of the North Sea Minute Repeater, whose gold-and-champlevé enamel dial features an intricately executed depiction of an offshore oil rig whose mighty cranes move with the striking of the chimes.
The Ulysse Nardin North Sea Minute Repeater, which the brand refers to as “a powerful homage to the oil industry,” is part of the Ulysse Nardin Classic Collection, and takes its place alongside other chiming fake watches with jaquemarts — tiny, mechanized, dial-mounted automatons — such as the recently introduced Hourstriker Pinup. It has a 42-mm-diameter, 30-meter water-resistant case made of 18k rose gold. The glimmering gold oil rig on the dial, which is seen from a low angle and rises from a black sea and silhouetted against a deep red sky, is made of the same gold, with jaquemart cranes that dip up and down into the water as the hours, quarter-hours and minutes chime on demand when the wearer activates the slide on left-hand side of the case.
The champlevé enamel technique used on the dial (depicted in the photos below), which requires both an engraver and enameller, is an ancient art dating to the 12th Century, and mastered by only a handful of craftspeople today. In the first step, the engraver defines the design on the dial’s gold base plate, carefully creating a three-dimensional image. Afterward, the enameller lays down the different-colored enamels. Finally, the engraver chisels the metal elements to perfection after the dial has been polished.
The movement in the North Sea Minute Repeater is Replica Ulysse Nardin‘s Caliber UN-73, a manual-winding movement with a 36-hour power reserve. Equipped with the minute repeater function and its associated animated jaquemarts, the movement is visible through a screwed sapphire caseback. The dial’s streamlined hour and minute hands tell the time on minimalist dot hour and minute indices along the flange. The watch, which is limited to just 18 pieces, comes on a black leather strap with a gold folding buckle.
Since Henri d’Origny created the design for the Hermès Cape Cod in 1991, the wholesale replica watches has enjoyed instant recognition and popularity that continues to this day. Taking its inspiration from the popular summertime destination in Massachusetts, the original square inside a rectangle motif with the now iconic anchor chain link managed to be groundbreaking in a subtle way. And almost magically it eloquently captures the feel of the quaint villages, seafood shacks, lighthouses and beaches of the seaside escape.
The design while showcasing a classic consistency also proved to be adaptable and flexible to changes in style over time. This year is no different as among the new models fake watches for men and women is the Cape Cod TGM Cadran laque, which showcases colorful dials and straps.
The dials are lacquered in graded shades of brown or red and complemented with straps made of Ebony Barenia calfskin and Hermès red calfskin. The dials are further highlighted with raised rhodium-plated Arabic numerals, silvered transferred square minute track and rhodium-plated hands. The “très grand” steel square case measures 30mm by 30mm. of course the straps, whether the tradition wristband or the double-tour wrap-around, have the famous Hermès saddle stitching.
The uk replica watches are powered with a Swiss made quartz movement. Available in stores in May, the collection retails for $375 – $330.
It’s one of several new models of the Cape Cod that Hermès will release this year.
“A replica watch is the only jewellery a man should wear.” Ever hear someone say that? I’m not sure where that leaves the wedding ring, or even a stylish set of cuff-links or a tie-pin, but let’s put those aside for now. Of course, due to today’s more accepting cultural climate, things have changed. Ear rings, chains, piercings and tattoos are pretty much no longer taboos.
You might even come across as a little outdated if you told someone that jewellery on a man is unacceptable. But not too long ago that’s the way the vast majority of people felt. Only a copy timepiece would do. More than that was viewed with acute suspicion.
But let’s focus here on what our watches say about us men.
In some social circles that sentiment still has a strong foothold. A 20-year-old gold Rolex Day Date peeping out from under a cuff at a business meeting sends a subtle message. A brand new diamond encrusted Audemars Piguet Offshore worn between chunky gold chains sends quite another. Perhaps they both say “money and power,” but they say it in very different languages.
There are also those, typically among the newly rich online startup boomers, who enjoy thumbing their noses at expensive watches. Although they can now probably afford a Patek Philippe (or two gold APs), they choose a cheap vintage Casio digital or a Mickey Mouse watch instead – as a kind of ironic statement, perhaps. “If you want style, check out my app, not my watch,” they seem to say. Or maybe, “I prefer to invest in experiences, not social peacocking.”
Then there’s the bling cheap replica mens watches. This is the other extreme. It’s a trend that was made popular by rappers like P Diddy and Jay Z, and by footballers like David Beckham. There’s nothing subtle about it. Even a timepiece as technically impressive as the Audemars Piguet Offshore Chronograph takes second place to the glittering rocks on display. Perhaps only one person in 1,000 will know what a chronograph is, and fewer still will know that the automatic movement contains 37 synthetic jewels and 304 individual parts. The rest will only see carats. What does such a watch reveal about the wearer? “Yes, I can afford it.”
A watch reveals much more than just your estimated bank balance, to be sure. It says something about what you cherish too. Sometimes your watch reveals that you’re a sentimental family man at heart. Most often this is when you’re wearing a watch passed down from grandad, and which you aim to pass on to your own son one day. That cherished steel IWC from 1955 only comes out on Sundays and special occasions now, though. You’ve had it valued for insurance purposes, but it’s definitely not for sale.
But quite rarely I will notice a watch that reveals a true connoisseur. He’s not advertising his salary on his wrist. To him it’s all about that special watch. A watch lover appreciates a watch for the same reason a wine connoisseur appreciates a good vintage. He respects the many hours of painstaking labour that it took to create the watch in the first place, and he loves each complication, each scratch and each unique feature. If you happen to notice his unusual timepiece, he will keep you busy for an hour explaining what makes it tick, and why it’s so rare. So watch out!
In the end your choice of top swiss replica watches is almost like a secret personal relationship. You have your reasons. But there’s another side to it: Your watch also reveals something about your innermost character to the outside world. It’s a statement about you in a universally understood dialect.
Without a doubt, this year’s Wind^Up-worn&wound’s annual watch fair-was one of the highlights of 2016. When we set out to create Wind^Up, the intention was twofold. First, we wanted to give the brands we champion here on w&w a platform to get out in front of a live audience. Second, and perhaps even more important, we wanted to create a comfortable space for people-including those who might otherwise never step a foot inside a branded ladies cheap fake watches for women boutique-to come in off the street and handle some really great timepieces. No pomp. No white gloves. Just a fun, pressure-free environment for everyone to play with some great watches.
It worked. Over 15,000 of you came to the Chelsea Market space, a significant leap from the first year’s event held in SoHo. The feedback from the audience and the brands presenting was overwhelmingly positive, and it’s given us some great ideas for the next one.
Speaking of brands, we grew this year’s event to 30 vendors, up from 18 the previous year. In part, because the bigger space allowed for more brands to participate. But we also wanted to increase the variety of women’s quartz stainless steel casual watch and accessories on display so that Wind^Up would appeal to more than just hardcore watch connoisseurs.
We would like to take a moment to thank our sponsors who helped make this year’s Wind^Up possible: Oris (lead sponsor), Analog/Shift, MK II buy quality imitation watch bands and straps and Van Brauge. Also, big thanks to our friends over at RedBar for putting together the after-party and for keeping the libations flowing.
We’re really looking forward to the next one. In the meantime, we put together a video and gallery showcasing the event. Enjoy!
